Spring planting successfully completed under Our Green Tomorrow Programme
The spring planting of more than 1,700 trees, shrubs and flowers has been completed through Our Green Tomorrow Programme organised by Geotechmin OOD, Ellatzite-Med AD, Geostroy AD and Geotrading AD. The planting places were carefully selected to beautify the urban landscapes of Anton, Etropole, Zlatitsa, Koprivshtitsa, Mirkovo, Pirdop, and Chavdar Municipalities.
Mayors, municipal councillors, senior managers and employees from the sponsor companies joined the initiative, supported by local residents, school principals, teachers, and students.
The green campaign commenced in Zlatitsa Municipality. 49 new saplings – catalpa trees, Japanese cherries, etc., were planted in the yard of the Day Care Centre for Children and Youth with Disabilities in the town of Zlatitsa, in the verdant area in front of the town dormitories, and in central places in Karlievo and Petrich villages.
More than 400 trees and shrubs were planted in Etropole town centre, in Todor Peev Vocational High School, Hristo Yasenov Secondary School, Hristo Botev Primary School, Edelweiss Kindergarten, in children’s playgrounds, and in the villages of Lopyan, Brusen and Yamna.
Over 60 magnolia saplings, plane trees and variegated ash-leaved maples now adorn the main street in the town of Pirdop, the garden in front of the municipality building, and the village of Dushantsi.
Our Green Tomorrow campaign continued in Koprivshtitsa and Anton Municipalities. Nearly 800 new trees and shrubs – ligústrum, Japanese maple, silver spruce, thuja, Japanese sophora, and more than 120 roses enhanced the beauty of Koprivshtitsa, making it an even greener and friendlier town.
The youngest residents of Anton village also helped make their village greener and more attractive. The children from Bulgarche Kindergarten planted flowers and promised to take care of them. The village was beautified with more than 50 saplings including red photinia, Japanese cherry and thuja. In addition, over 160 geraniums and roses were planted in the park area around the River Dalbok, Ss Cyril and Methodius Primary School, and at the northern entrance to the village.
More than 150 shrubs were planted in the village of Bunovo, Mirkovo Municipality, through Our Green Tomorrow initiative.
Furthermore, 5th, 6th and 7th grade pupils from Ss Cyril and Methodius Primary School planted 100 vegetables in the school greenhouse, which had been specially built with donations through the programme.
Our Green Tomorrow is a long-term programme, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP’s corporate social responsibility. It has been implemented since 2011 with donations and volunteer work of the Group’s employees together with local communities.
