The Scientific and Technical Union of Mining, Geology and Metallurgy celebrated its 50th anniversary
On 16 June 2015, the Scientific and Technical Union of Mining, Geology and Metallurgy (STU of MGM) celebrated 50 years since its establishment. The golden jubilee meeting was attended by President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, Mr. Zhecho Stankov, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Energy and Mr. Boyko Malinov, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Environment and Water.
In his welcoming speech to the participants, the Chairman of STU of MGM Prof. Dr. Tzolo Voutov emphasized the active work of STU of MGM over the years, the high recognition and prestige of the Union among the scientific and technical communities in the country and abroad. The organization is a member of 17 international organizations and academies working in the spheres of mining and metallurgical industries, geology and environmental protection, including the World Mining Congress.
A large number of individual awards and plaquettes were bestowed in recognition of outstanding merits and contribution to the Union’s various activities, including the titles Honorary Member of STU of MGM, Honored Miner of STU of MGM, Honored Geologist of STU of MGM and Honored Metallurgist of STU of MGM.
Prof. Dr. Tzolo Voutov received the award Honorary Benefactor of the Federation of Scientific and Technical Unions in Bulgaria and the title Honored Miner of STU of MGM. Dipl.Eng. Dobri Tsvetkov, Executive Director of Ellatzite-Med AD, received a gold medal Dobri Zhelyazkov – the Factory Man and the title Honored Miner of STU of MGM, and Dipl.Eng. Kostadin Naydenov, Director of Ellatzite Mine Complex, was awarded the title Honored Miner of STU of MGM.
Gold plaquettes For Outstanding Merits to STU of MGM were bestowed on the companies from GEOTECHMIN GROUP – Geotechmin OOD, Geoproject EOOD, Geostroy AD, Geotrading AD and Ellatzite-Med AD.
