Our Green Tomorrow adorns the landscape of Etropole and Zlatitsa with more than 360 trees and shrubs
More than 360 trees and shrubs were planted in the towns of Etropole and Zlatitsa under Our Green Tomorrow Programme launched by GEOTECHMIN GROUP. Four companies from the Group donate funds for purchasing the plants, and the municipalities select the correct planting sites and the types of saplings and shrubs to be planted.
80 new fruit trees and 48 ornamental saplings were planted in the town of Etropole. The official start of the campaign was given in Memorial Park by Mrs Rositsa Hristova together with the Chairman of the Municipal Council of Etropole Mr Marin Marinov, the Secretary of the Municipality Ms Tsvetina Chipeva and the representatives of the donor companies Dr.Eng. Ivan Vutov – Vice President of Geotechmin OOD, Mr Dominic Hamers – Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD, M.Eng. Stoil Dimitrov – General Director Production at Ellatzite-Med AD, M.Eng. Ivaylo Nikolov – Director of the Mine Complex and Mr Mladen Nedkov – Deputy Director Information and Communication Technologies. The initiative was also joined by municipal officials, students and teachers from Hristo Botev Primary School who planted 17 fruit saplings – apples, plums, pears, cherries, and damsons in strict compliance with all anti-epidemic measures. M.Eng. Tsvetomir Simeonov from the Municipal Forestry Department at Etropole Municipality taught students how to plant the saplings properly.
20 thuja, emerald green arborvitae and ash trees were planted in the schoolyard of Hristo Botev Primary School. 12 young fruit trees have added new beauty to the schoolyard of Todor Peev Vocational High School. Furthermore, a large number of new trees were planted under Our Green Tomorrow Programme in Ezeroto Park (Lake Park), Patilantsi Nursery School, Manastirskata Quarter 20, Quarter 102, and in many other places in the town of Etropole.
On October 22, Our Green Tomorrow commenced in the town of Zlatitsa where 240 trees and shrubs were planted in just one day. The initiative was launched in the area between apartment blocks on Peshterata Square by planting 10 saplings of Liquidambar ˗ a deciduous tree which may live to 400 years. The official start was given by the Mayor of Zlatitsa M.Eng. Stoyan Genov. The campaign was also joined by Mr Iliya Makedonski – Deputy Mayor, employees of the municipal administration, representatives of Ellatzite-Med AD: M.Eng. Stoil Dimitrov – General Director Production, M.Eng. Stoyno Stoynov – Director of the Flotation Complex and M.Eng. Alexander Grigorov – Director of Environment and Water Department. Geotrading AD was represented by M.Eng. Kiril Iliev – Executive Director of the company. Directors and employees of the four donor companies also took part in the initiative.
Furthermore, a wide variety of new trees were planted on Topolnitsa Street where representatives of the municipality and the four companies planted 22 saplings of Liquidambar, also known as Amber tree. The outdoor spaces between apartment blocks in the town centre were beautified with 17 new trees and 170 Forsythia bushes. In addition, 20 Catalpa trees were planted on Georgi Zlatanov Street, which are pleasing the town residents and passers-by with their freshness from early spring to late autumn.
Our Green Tomorrow is part of the Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme initiated by Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov in 2011. The programme is implemented in partnership with the municipalities of Mirkovo, Chavdar, Chelopech, Zlatitsa, Pirdop, Koprivshtitsa and Etropole. The funds needed for purchasing the plants are provided by Geotechmin OOD, Ellatzite-Med AD, Geotrading AD and Geostroy AD, while the municipalities choose the plant species and respective site locations.
