The regional student competition for creative writing and drawing “140 Years of Freedom. My Homeland Heroes and Historic Events” came to an end. It was organized by Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med within the corporate social responsibility programme Culture and National Identity.

The initiative has been held for the fourth consecutive year. This year’s competition was attended by students from 12 schools in the regions where the two companies operate. An authoritative and independent jury evaluated 181 students’ works in the categories “drawing” and “creative writing” in the age range: 5th - 12th grade. 96 of these works were awarded and subsequently published in booklets.

The competition officially ended with solemn ceremonies in the town of Etropole and the village of Mirkovo. The events were attended by the awarded students, their teachers and partners of the initiative. The first, second, and third place winners had the opportunity to do large jigsaw puzzles of the famous paintings The Road to Sofia and Botev and Levski by the contemporary Bulgarian artist Vassil Goranov - a master of historical painting.
