The Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) has awarded institutions, individual and corporate donors and media as a mark of gratitude for their support and commitment to its benevolent causes in 2014. The awards were bestowed on 8 May 2015 at the BRC headquarters by Mr. Hristo Grigorov, President of the humanitarian organization in Bulgaria.

Among the attending companies, Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med were honored as the biggest corporate donors supporting BRC’ activities in the past year of trials and disasters. Dipl.Eng. Dobri Tsvetkov received the awards and expressed his gratitude for this recognition on behalf of the management boards of the two companies.

Among the awardees was Mrs. Margarita Popova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, who received a plaquette for her overall contribution to the Red Cross humanitarian causes and for the support, revival and popularization of the International Festival of Red Cross and Health Films - Varna. The European Commissioner Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva received a plaquette for being the most generous individual donor for 2014. Other companies and media were also awarded.

The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is held annually on 8 May. In 2015, the holiday celebrates the 50th anniversary since the adoption of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement's Fundamental Principles. The theme of this year’s event is “Our Principles in Action”.
