Joint venture "Geometro B.P." (Geostroy, Geotechmin and Metroproekt) has commenced the construction of metro station 16 and an adjoining metro tunnel which are part of the first diameter of Sofia Metro and are located near the Business Park in Mladost-IV District. The project is funded under EU Operational Programme "Transport 2007 – 2013" (European Regional Development Fund and National Fund) as well as by Sofia Municipality budget.

The first sod was turned on April 25, 2013. It was attended by the Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, Sofia's Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, the executive director of Metropoliten Plc. Stoyan Bratoev and other official guests.

Joint venture "Geometro B.P." will provide full engineering services. The station and the 1 km long tunnel will be entirely underground and there will be an administrative area and a 100-car park above them. The project also includes a reconstruction of Alexander Malinov Blvd. including restoration and landscaping of those sections affected during the construction works.

The project is planned to be completed by April 2015.
