On June 15, 2012 MHPP "Tzerovo" was put into operation. This is the third riverbed micro hydropower plant constructed by Geotechmin OOD along the Iskar River valley.

MHPP "Tzerovo" is part of the second stage of project "Hydropower Cascade Sreden Iskar". This stage also includes MHPP "Opletnya", which is currently under construction by Geotechmin OOD, and MHPP "Prokopanik" which is being executed by Geostroy AD.

The official opening of MHPP "Tzerovo" was attended by the Minister of economy, energy and tourism Delyan Dobrev, the Italian ambassador in Bulgaria His Excellency Stefano Benazzo, the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandukova, the Mayor of Svoge Joro Tzvetkov and the President of the company-investor Petrolvilla Group, Sergio Bortolotti.
