December 2008
In September 2007 ten companies took part in the prequalification stage to a tender for the construction of section "Nadezhda Overpass – Cherni Vrah Blvd" which is part of the second diameter of Sofia Metropolitan. The only Bulgarian company to independently submit tender documents was Geotechmin OOD.
In October 2007 Geotechmin was admitted by the Prequalification Committee to the second stage of the tender. In the beginning of 2008 it submitted a very competitive offer for the construction of the metro line between Patriarch Evtimii Blvd and Cherni Vrah Blvd. The tender, however, was cancelled due to lack of municipality funds.
On March 31, 2008 the tender for Sofia Metro Diameter II was reopened. Geotechmin OOD is again bidding this high-priority project.
The project covers the construction of a 6.4 km-long metro section with 7 metro stations and must be completed within 45 months from the day of signing of the contract. The construction of this metro section is expected to finish until the beginning of 2011. The financing is mainly from the European funds for operational program "Transport 2007 – 2011".
