The official opening of the most prestigious hotel complex in northwestern Bulgaria – four-star hotel Skalite – was held on November 11, 2008 in the town of Belogradchik.

The former Balkantourist hotel, which is located in the centre of the most attractive and fast-developing tourist town in the region, is owned by Ellatzite-Med AD. Considerable investments have been made in the transforming of the old hotel building into a modern complex. The renovation and modernization of the hotel was executed over a period of 16 months by the construction company Geostroy AD which belongs to the GEOTECHMIN GROUP.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was accompanied by a grand parade with brass band music and a blessing service. The event was attended by 200 guests, among whom were the Presidents of Geotechmin, Geostroy, Geotravel and Ellatzite-Med, the Mayor of Belogradchik Emil Tsankov, the Governors of Vratza, Vidin and Montana municipalities and the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus Vyacheslav Kachanov.

After the official opening, guests were given the chance to tour the hotel complex which has 48 luxury rooms, various food & beverage facilities, well-equipped conference halls and a SPA centre.

The event was closed with a cocktail party at which the guests tasted the chef's specialties and the confectioner's pastry to the sounds of pleasant classical music.
