Employer: Ellatzite-Med AD
Designer-Technologist: Mitsubishi Materials Techno Corporation (MMTEC), Japan
Designer on Bulgarian part: Geoproject EOOD
Contractor: Geostroy AD
Project implementation period: June 2012 – August 2014
Description of the project:
A wastewater treatment facility was built at level 840 m in Ellatzite Mine Complex to purify mine effluents by applying an innovative for Bulgaria technology of the Japanese company MMTEC. The main processes are: neutralization, sludge recirculation and reneutralization, which are controlled in a fully automated operational cycle. The successful commissioning of the new facility has improved the condition of the main water intake in the discharge area of treated waters - the Malak Iskar River.
The main structures executed under heavy geological and weather conditions are as follows:
- standard radial thickener, 35 m in diameter
- neutralization tank
- administrative building
- hydrated lime storage bin with capacity of 100 cub.m
- sand filter with 3 sections, washing water tank, washed water tank, treated water tank
- reneutralization tank
- sulphuric acid storage tank
- shafts and wastewater collecting pipelines
- access roads and bridge structures
The wastewater treatment facility is part of a complex wastewater management system on the territory of Ellatzite mine.
