Ellatzite-Med AD has put a new Milling Unit No.12 into operation in the Grinding and Flotation Department of the Flotation Complex. The project is implemented in response to the company’s strategic goals: maximising the usage of exhaustible natural resources, smooth transition to a circular economy and care for the environment.

The new unit is fully integrated into the automation system of the Grinding and Flotation Department and provides an uninterrupted workflow process at times of scheduled phase repairs of the other 11 milling units. Furthermore, it stabilizes the degree of production capacity utilization, thus maintaining production targets of copper concentrate. As a result, efficient use of exhaustible natural resources is achieved, as well as considerable reduction of the mining waste, providing an opportunity for sustainable and efficient beneficiation of lower-grade copper ores.

The expected result of this investment is to reduce the amount of mining waste generated at the complex by the year 2031, which is set out in Ellatzite-Med’s Waste Management Plan.
