Geotechmin wins Partner of Municipalities Award
Geotechmin OOD received the annual Partner of Municipalities Award during the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities. It was organised by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) on the occasion of 140th anniversary of the adoption of the first Law on Municipalities and Local Government, as well as 15 years since Bulgaria’s full membership in the European Union.
The award was presented to the Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD by Mr Kalin Kamenov, member of the Management Board of the Association and Mayor of Vratsa Municipality. It is a recognition for supporting significant socially responsible initiatives in the category “Small Municipality”. The company had been nominated by two municipalities – Zlatitsa and Chavdar where it has executed numerous projects to benefit the local communities: a new health centre, an inclusive classroom, rehabilitation of streets, churches, etc. The projects were implemented under Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme initiated by Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov, President of Geotechmin OOD. The companies Geotechmin OOD, Ellatzite-Med AD, Geostroy AD
and Geotrading AD also take active part in the programme.
For 4 years, more than 80 projects in the spheres of environmental protection and green infrastructure, as well as improving quality of life, health care, education, etc. have been completed under the programme.
‘For more than 30 years, the companies in GEOTECHMIN GROUP have been a partner of the municipalities where they operate, supporting important social causes at the local level. Our main goal is to improve people’s quality of life in these regions, because our workers and employees live there. We provide support when and where it is most needed,’ said Mr Hamers. He added that in 2022 significant environmental and social impact projects were implemented in Etropole, Mirkovo, Chavdar, Zlatitsa, Pirdop, Chelopech, Koprivshtitsa and Anton Municipalities with the financial support and volunteer work of teams from the four companies. ‘These projects have solved urgent problems – we have repaired streets, schools, hospitals and churches. Furthermore, we have been building new museums and children’s playgrounds, installing energy-efficient street lighting systems, planting a wide variety of trees and shrubs. The results are lasting and sustainable. I wish all mayors to make their municipalities a better place to live – to make them attractive for people to build their homes and raise their families, to find their professional realisation and most importantly – to feel happy and stay in Bulgaria!’
