Geotechmin Group repairs Hristo Yasenov Secondary School in Etropole under Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme
GEOTECHMIN GROUP completed its first project Renovation of Hristo Yasenov Secondary School in the town of Etropole under Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme. In August 2020, the Group’s companies offered support to five municipalities including Etropole for implementation of key projects for local communities in the context of anticipated impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Two months later, a Framework Agreement was signed between Etropole Municipality and the companies Geotechmin OOD, Ellatzite-Med AD, Geostroy AD and Geotrading AD. The major overhaul of Hristo Yasenov Secondary School was decided to be of top priority. The other project of greatest importance was the roof repair of Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “Prof. Dr. Alexander Gerchev” in the town of Etropole.
Hristo Yasenov Secondary School is the largest school in Sofia region in terms of building stock and it ranks third in the number of students. According to the project, the school’s oil-fired steam installation was completely replaced with a gas heating system. The new installation was built using an advanced technology providing optimal indoor temperature to all school premises. New radiators with thermostatic valves were installed to help save on energy costs. Furthermore, a new central heating system was installed in the dormitory accommodating students of Hristo Stoichkov Football Academy. These students also study at Hristo Yasenov Secondary School. Until then, the students had used electric heaters to warm their rooms in the dormitory. Thanks to the renovated central heating installation, the problem with heat supply to the swimming pool was solved. Before that, the school pool had been closed for 5 years. Now it is renovated with high-quality waterproofing and thermal insulation, and steam traps were installed to remove water formed by condensation. The school gym boasts brand-new oak wood flooring and numerous improvements to facilitate students in their physical education classes.
In February 2021, the renovated school was consecrated with a solemn water-blessing ceremony by Economos Staurophor Emil Yakimov from the Etropole Monastery of the Holy Trinity. Mrs Mila Mancheva, Headmaster of Hristo Yasenov Secondary School, said that the project was executed at high quality and the repair works were completed under strict adherence to the schedule.
‘I am extremely grateful to the President of Geotechmin OOD Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov. A man who is not directly involved in education, but has significantly improved the learning environment for the children and teachers. This is worth noting, because I am sure there are many people in Bulgaria who can follow his example and have to turn their attention to education,’ said Mrs Mila Mancheva.
