GEOTECHMIN GROUP presents scholarship, internship and career development opportunities to students at UACEG

Proven professionals from Ellatzite-Med AD, Geostroy AD, Geoproject EOOD and Geotechmin OOD presented opportunities for scholarships, internships and career development to second-year students majoring in Hydraulic Engineering and Water Supply and Sewerage at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG). The meeting was a continuation of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between GEOTECHMIN GROUP and the University.

‘We would like to present to you a wide variety of development opportunities at our companies. Every year we conduct internship programmes and our Scholarship Programme is now open for applications. We invite you to apply for a scholarship at Ellatzite-Med or Geostroy as these two industry-leading companies provide scholarships to students from your faculty,’ said Mrs Antoaneta Georgieva, Human Resources Director at Geotechmin OOD. She emphasised that the Scholarship Programme has been successfully implemented for several years now. ‘After completing their studies, lots of students continue their professional career as full-time employees at our companies. In addition to the competitive salary, we provide a very good benefits package and encourage them to upgrade their education,’ explained Mrs Milena Hristova, Human Resources Director at Ellatzite-Med AD.

M.Eng. Momchil Boyadzhiev, Deputy Head of Production Unit at the Water Tailings Facility in Ellatzite-Med, described how he had started working as an intern and gradually rose to the position of Deputy Head thanks to GEOTECHMIN GROUP’s Internship Programme. Being a graduate student from the Master’s Programme in Hydraulic Engineering at UACEG, he strongly believes that this partnership is beneficial for the students. ‘Ellatzite-Med showed me that a young specialist can develop professionally and advance in his career if he is willing to work hard and possesses the required qualities. The company operates modern highly mechanised low-emission mining fleet. Come and join our internship programme to get in touch with state-of-the-art mining machines and technologies,’ said M.Eng. Boyadzhiev, while inviting the students to join Ellatzite-Med’s programmes.

M.Eng. Elena Tsoneva, Marketing Director at Geostroy AD, presented the company Geostroy AD and the ongoing construction of Obelya Metro Station, which connects Metro Lines 1 and 2 of the Sofia Metro. She gave a real-life example from the construction of water pipelines and other underground utilities in this metro section, which showed the practical application of the professions studied by the students attending the meeting.

M.Eng. Ivaylo Stanev, Manager of Geoproject EOOD, impressed the students with his stories about the design and construction of the tailings storage facility and the project for extending the life of Ellatzite Mine. The students asked him various questions, including what types of professional 3D design software are being used by the mining designers. M.Eng. Ivaylo Stanev invited the students to apply for an internship as Geoproject EOOD offers this opportunity all year round. His colleagues M.Eng. Slav Stoyanov, who had recently graduated from the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering at UACEG, and Mihail Vasilev, a 4th year student majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Technology, talked about the career development opportunities at Geoproject and the challenge of working on many significant projects using leading-edge technologies.
