Geotechmin Group organises Career Day for UMG students
GEOTECHMIN GROUP presented a variety of internship and scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students at the University of Mining and Geology “St Ivan Rilski” (UMG) during an inspiring Career Day hosted at ProAuto Multifunctional Complex. GEOTECHMIN GROUP was represented by Dr.Eng. Ivan Vutov – Chairman of Geotrading AD’s Board of Directors and Vice President of Geotechmin OOD, Mr Dominic Hamers – Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD, М.Eng. Ivaylo Nikolov – Director of Ellatzite Mine Complex, M.Eng. Vladimir Alexandrov – Deputy Director of Ellatzite Mine Complex, and other senior staff. On behalf of the University of Mining and Geology, the event was attended by the Rector Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivaylo Koprev, the Vice-Rectors and the Deans of the three Faculties.
The Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD Mr Dominic Hamers welcomed the guests and said that he hopes to see the Group’s future interns, scholarship students and employees among the students present. The Rector of UMG Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivaylo Koprev expressed his profound contentment with the successful and mutually beneficial partnership between the university and GEOTECHMIN GROUP. ‘While working with you, we get in touch with the most advanced technologies, because it is true that mining companies are moving forward much faster, which gives a great advantage to our university and helps providing early career guidance in schools,’ said Prof. Ivaylo Koprev. He wished students would become part of the big family of GEOTECHMIN GROUP.
Detailed information about the available internship options and respective application requirements was presented by Mrs Antoaneta Georgieva – Director of Human Resources Department at Geotechmin OOD. For summer 2022, six companies from the Group have announced more than 50 paid internships for UMG students, providing an opportunity for the most motivated and best-performing interns to obtain a one-year scholarship as well.
‘There are more than 300 various job positions in the Group’s companies, so it is a great opportunity for everyone willing to start working with us to develop and upgrade their knowledge, take on additional responsibilities and expand their professional horizons,’ explained Mrs Georgieva.
Discussions were organised with UMG graduates who are current employees of GEOTECHMIN GROUP’s companies. They talked about their professional development and responded to young people’s questions. On the part of Ellatzite-Med AD, the discussions were joined by М.Eng. Ivaylo Nikolov – Director of Ellatzite Mine Complex, M.Eng. Vladimir Alexandrov – Deputy Director Mine Planning and Design at Ellatzite Mine Complex, M.Eng. Tsvetan Dilov – Chief Expert Geotechnical Engineering Services at Ellatzite Flotation Complex. Other young specialists also joined the discussions – among them were M.Eng. Ivan Stoynov, Deputy Head of Separate Specialized Production Unit for Overhaul, Emergency Repairs and Technical Maintenance at Ellatzite Water Tailings Management Facility, who had been an intern at Ellatzite-Med AD, and M.Eng. Simeon Kostadinov, a scholarship student of the company. On behalf of Geostroy AD, the discussions were attended by the Chief Engineer M.Eng. Yordan Yonov and Ms Shirin Chukur who had been appointed as a full-time employee after completing a summer internship in 2021. Geotrading AD was represented by Mr Krasimir Dekov – Deputy Commercial Director who spoke about his career development and the multiple benefits of the quality education provided at UMG.
