For the third consecutive year, we have supported ICARUS AWARDS through Bulgarian Virtues Programme
For the third consecutive year, Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov and the Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme with donors Geotechmin OOD and Geotrading AD have supported the Icarus National Awards for Performing Arts organised by the Union of Bulgarian Actors. The prize-winners were awarded at an official ceremony in Ivan Vazov National Theatre on 27th March 2024.
The special award for outstanding contribution to Bulgarian theatre was presented to the prominent actress Maria Kavardzhikova by Mrs Emilia Ilieva, Executive Director of Geotrading AD.
‘It is a great honour for me, as a representative of GEOTECHMIN GROUP supporting the Icarus Awards through Bulgarian Virtues Charity Programme initiated by Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov, to present the award to this remarkable actress who has played more than 70 theatre roles and over 60 movie roles – the Grande Dame of Bulgarian theatre, the unique and magnificent Maria Kavardzhikova!’ said Mrs Ilieva upon presenting the award.
The event was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Icarus National Awards for Performing Arts. Every year on 27th March, a figure of world stature shares the World Theatre Day Message to theatre lovers all over the world. This year, the author of the message is the Norwegian writer and playwright Jon Fosse, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 2023. His message is titled “Art is Peace”.
The 2024 ICARUS AWARDS ceremony was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, members of the resigning government – Maria Gabriel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Krastyu Krastev, Minister of Culture.
