Ellatzite-Med AD has implemented an International Energy Management Standard

Ellatzite-Med AD has become the first mining company in Bulgaria to achieve certification to the international standard ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Systems. With the implementation of this standard, the company has upgraded its Integrated Management System (IMS), which incorporates the international standards ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management and BS OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management. Thus ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Systems has become an integral part of the corporate Integrated Management System. The company also holds accreditation certificates to ISO 17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories and ISO 17020 Conformity Assessment – Requirements for the Operation of Various Types of Bodies Performing Inspection.
The company obtained its sixth international certificate – ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Systems after a certification audit conducted in December 2015 and a successful assessment of the energy management systems given by SGS Bulgaria. Thanks to the expert assistance rendered by Energeo EOOD and Geotechmin OOD, the new energy management standard has been properly implemented in the IMS in full conformity with the corporate objectives.
The introduction of ISO 50001:2011 will enable Ellatzite-Med AD to improve the systems and processes which are needed for optimizing energy performance and efficient energy use. The application of this standard aims to reduce environmental impacts and energy costs by means of systematic energy management. ISO 50001:2011 provides a framework to adopt best energy management practices in order to achieve ultimate energy efficiency by optimal resource utilization.
