Dominic Hamers awards two outstanding students of Bulgaria
23 students were awarded in the 7th edition of Outstanding Students of Bulgaria initiative organised by 24 Chasa Daily (the 24 Hours) and traditionally supported by Geotechmin OOD. To be eligible for a membership in the club of high-performing students, they must have won medals at prestigious international academic competitions or they must have completed 7th and 12th grades with the highest overall GPA (Excellent 6.00). The first task assigned to the new awardees was to become ambassadors of change in Bulgarian education.
Marin Botev from the town of Etropole and Yoana Mladenova from Sofia city are among the distinguished students. ‘Marin Botev is a student who we know well at GEOTECHMIN GROUP. He is not only an excellent student at Hristo Botev Primary School in the town of Etropole, but also the director of “Loving the Profession” film made as part of Let’s Make a Movie project launched by Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med. Marin, together with other students, presented 10 mining professions in two short films. This is just one of our joint projects with schools in Etropole and Srednogorie Municipalities. I wish Marin to continue being so ambitious, to keep his keen interest in learning, and to stay and work in Bulgaria,’ said Mr Dominic Hamers, Executive Director of Geotechmin OOD. He also presented the award – a badge and a certificate of appreciation to Yoana Mladenova. ‘She is an amazing girl. In the times we live, she scored 100/100 points in both national external assessment exams after Grade 7, a remarkable achievement showing how hard she had been working. Yoana, I wish you to be always so diligent and be a role model for all students!’ said Mr Hamers.
The event was attended by the Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tzokov. He awarded students who had won the Education Ministry’s first national competition for young talents in interior design, a girl who got the maximum score in the Bulgarian language and literature graduation exam, and talented twins who rank among the top 10 talented children in the world.
