Medal of Distinction of the President of BAS for Prof. Tzolo Voutov

The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Acad. Julian Revalski awarded Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov, President of Geotechmin OOD, with the Medal of Distinction of the President of BAS  for his outstanding services to the  Academy and on the occasion of his 75th anniversary.

‘I am honoured to present this award,’ said Acad. Revalski with deep gratitude for Prof. Voutov’s continuous support and cooperation, highlighting his dedicated professional, public and philanthropic activities. ‘Your kindness and generosity are a great source of respect,’ added the BAS President during the official ceremony at the Academy.

Prof. Tzolo Voutov thanked for receiving this prestigious award and emphasized that everything he has achieved is due to the support of his family and his high-performing team. ‘We will continue the successful partnership between BAS scientists, its scientific units and our experts on various projects,’ said Prof. Voutov.

Prof. DSc. Eng. Tzolo Voutov is one of the three co-founders of Geotechmin OOD and President of GEOTECHMIN GROUP since 1999. His substantial contribution to mine exploration and mine optimisation has placed him among the most renowned mining professionals in the sphere of nonferrous metal open-pit mining. He is a holder of Stara Planina Order, First Degree for his exceptional contribution and merits to Bulgaria’s economic development and establishment of contemporary industrial relations, as well as many other awards for his support and commitment to the advancement of business, science, and society. In 2015, he received the honorary plaque “Patron of BAS” for his personal contribution to promoting the Academy’s success. He is among the organization’s donors who have supported numerous causes and participated in the Initiative Committee for the construction of a monument to Acad. Blagovest Sendov.

The Medal of Distinction of the President of BAS is an honorary prize given to Bulgarian and foreign citizens to recognize their significant contribution to the development of science, culture, education, public and social life, people with outstanding achievements in safeguarding and promoting historical and cultural heritage, talented pupils and students, and donors. Among the recipients of the Medal of Distinction during Acad. Revalski’s term of office has been the distinguished scientist and Nobel laureate Luc Montagnier, the Japanese physicist, inventor and Nobel Prize winner Prof. Hiroshi Amano, the Nobel laureate in Chemistry Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn, the French mathematician Prof. Cédric Villani, the Director-General of CERN Prof. Dr Fabiola Gianotti, and other world-renowned personalities. The prize recipients from Bulgaria are Acad. Anton Donchev, Prof. Zahari Zlatev, Acad. Petar Kenderov, Acad. Ivan Juhnovski, Acad. Yachko Ivanov, Prof. Petar Beron.

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by the Vice-Presidents of BAS Prof. DSc. Evdokia Pasheva and Corresponding Member DSc. Stefan Hadjitodorov, and the Scientific Secretary-General Prof. Neli Koseva. On behalf of GEOTECHMIN, the event was attended by PhD Eng. Vladimir Vutov and PhD Eng. Ivan Vutov, Vice Presidents of the company, and Dominic Hamers, Executive Director.
