GEOPAT LOT 1 Consortium with Geostroy AD as leader and Patstroy-92 AD signed a contract with Road Infrastructure Agency for design and construction of Lot 1 of Road I-1(E-79) Mezdra – Botevgrad. The total length of the road section is 19.3 km.

The road will have two carriageways in each direction, with a gauge of 20 m, twice as wide as the current one. The alignment will follow the existing road and will extend to the new gauge, and the current terrain will be largely repaired and reconstructed where needed. The project also includes the construction of 3 roundabouts and a diamond interchange, 2 new bridges, and extensions to 5 existing road structures. Furthermore, it is planned to build 3 agricultural overpasses and 2 recreation areas.

The construction of Vidin – Botevgrad expressway, which comprises Lot 1 of Road I-1(E-79) Mezdra – Botevgrad, is a priority project under the investment programme of the Road Infrastructure Agency and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works until 2022. The overall homogenization and modernization of the route from Danube Bridge 2 will secure a fast and convenient connection between Hemus, Trakia, and Struma Motorways.
