In 2022, GEOTECHMIN GROUP continued Our Green Tomorrow Initiative offering a new opportunity to students from 13 partner schools in the town of Etropole and Srednogorie region to contribute to greener and more attractive schoolyards and parks. By planting and growing new trees and shrubs, they actively participate in the traditional regional competition under the same name “Our Green Tomorrow”. The saplings are provided by four companies from GEOTECHMIN GROUP – Geotechmin OOD, Ellatzite-Med AD, Geostroy AD and Geotrading AD, and each school was given the choice to select the planting sites.
This year the participation is being done on a team basis, rather than individual basis. The contest traditionally includes 5th to 12th grade students from Hristo Yasenov Secondary School, Hristo Botev Primary School and Todor Peev Vocational High School in the town of Etropole, Georgi Benkovski Primary School in the village of Mirkovo, Ss Cyril and Methodius Primary School in the village of Chavdar, St. Paisiy Hilendarski High School and Agro-Technical Vocational High School in the town of Zlatitsa, Ss Cyril and Methodius Primary School in the village of Chelopech, Vocational School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in the town of Pirdop, Ss Cyril and Methodius Primary School in the village of Anton, Savo Savov High School and Nikola Dimov Vocational School of Tourism and Food Technology in the town of Pirdop, and Lyuben Karavelov Secondary School in the town of Koprivshtitsa.
Guided by their teachers, enthusiastic teams of nature-loving students planted more than 550 saplings and shrubs in April and May 2022. They have to take care of the plants by watering and nurturing them regularly. At the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year the students will send up to 10 color photos, a video or a presentation revealing how well they have looked after the plants. In the autumn, the most caring teams who achieved the best results will receive prizes.
