Construction has commenced on Sadinata non-hazardous waste landfill and WWTP
On August 26, 2011 Joint Venture Geotechmin–Unieco signed a contract with Sofia Municipality for the construction of an integrated system of facilities for treatment of household waste of Sofia Municipality. The project is to be completed within 14 months and includes Sadinata non-hazardous waste landfill, WWTP and a reception area.
The contractor of the construction works is a consortium between Geotechmin OOD and the Italian company Unieco Società Cooperativa. The site is located in Sadinata district near the village of Yana, Kremikovtsi region.
The project is part of the Waste Management Programme of Sofia Municipality. It is partially funded under EU Operational Programme “Environment 2007-2013”, Priority axis 2 “Improvement and Development of Waste Treatment Infrastructure”. It is also supported by national financing, Sofia Municipality budget and a loan from the European Investment Bank.
