Awards for the winners in the contest Treasures from the Past, organized by Geotechmin and Ellatzite-Med
On 24 May 2017 Geotechmin OOD and Ellatzite-Med AD awarded the winners of the contest Treasures from the Past – the Life and Work of People in My Homeland. 84 children, divided into three categories including drawing, article and interview, were awarded by the painter and jury member Vasil Goranov, the Director of Flotation Complex in Mirkovo Stoyno Stoynov, and the Director of Ellatzite Mine Complex in Etropole M.Eng.Valentin Tsatsov.
Students in grades first through seventh from the seven partner schools within the region of Srednogorie and Etropole revealed the Treasures from the Past in the contest of the same name. They were revealed in the most natural ways – through talks with their grandmothers, grandfathers and other people of interest to them. They presented the magic of the picturesque home land, stories about old crafts and activities, which are no longer practiced – for example the first brewery and farriery, or about others which still exist today, such as the production of rose oil and ore mining. The students implemented in their works sayings, holiday memories, traditions and values, stories about rebels, famous musicians and entrepreneurs.
The traditions and customs in this regions will remain alive, because they are kept in the national memory and are being revived every year. The awarded works contain a rich variety of traditions, such as the spring mask carnival at Sirni zagovezni, folklore costumes from Srednogorie region and embroidered haidouk shirts.
Treasures from the Past is a part of Ellatzite-Med’s and Geotechmin’s corporate social responsibility programme Culture and National Identity, developed in the operational regions of the companies.
