Sadinata Non-Hazardous Waste Landfill, WWTP and Reception Area

This is the first stage of the project Construction of an Integrated System of Municipal Solid Waste Treatment Facilities for Sofia Municipality. It is funded under the EU Operational Programme “Environment 2007-2013”, Priority Axis 2 Improvement and Development of Waste Treatment Infrastructure. Other sources of financing include national funds, Sofia Municipality budget and a loan from the European Investment Bank.

The construction works were carried out on an area of approximately 33 hectares in Sadinata district near the village of Yana, Kremikovtsi region. Geotechmin – Unieco Joint Venture executed the following major subprojects: a non-hazardous waste landfill, a wastewater treatment plant and a reception area. In addition, surface and underground utility infrastructure was built – water supply and sewerage, electrical supply (including lighting), landscaping, permanent fencing, and service roads.
