50 youngsters receive appreciation certificates in Let’s Make a Movie project

The project Let’s Make a Movie 2024 was concluded with two official screenings of seven films produced by students from Etropole and Srednogorie regions.

More than 50 young people – authors of the films Four Meters Above the Ground, Automotive Diagnostician, What Is a Motor Grader Used for?, Profession: Auto Mechanic, Profession: Electrical Fitter, Young Welder, and To Recognize the Wealth – walked the red carpet at the Etropolia Complex in the town of Etropole and at Hristo Smirnenski Community Centre in the town of Zlatitsa before meeting their audience.

The guests watched the films depicting the stories of an excavator operator, a motor grader operator, a transport equipment fitter, a welder, an ore-dressing engineer, an electrical fitter, and an auto mechanic. The main characters in these films were students enrolled in the dual training programme at Todor Peev Vocational High School and Zlatitsa Vocational High School, along with their mentors.

The official events were attended by M.Eng. Vladimir Aleksandrov – Mayor of Etropole Municipality, M.Eng. Lyubomir Tsvetkov – Mayor of Zlatitsa Municipality, Mrs Boryana Keremidska – Chair of Etropole Municipal Council, Mrs Veneta Gergova – Municipal Councillor for Etropole Municipal Council, headteachers of the partner schools, teachers, and parents. Ellatzite-Med was represented by M.Eng. Stoil Dimitrov – General Production Director, M.Eng. Vassil Shishkov – Director of Ellatzite Mine Complex, and M.Eng. Ivan Kunchev – Director of the Flotation Complex.

Dr Mladenova, Harlequin Festival Director, presented the “Harlequin” statuette to the team from Hristo Yasenov Secondary School, who had won the Best Documentary Award at the 2024 Harlequin Children and Youth Media Art Festival. All students who participated in the project received appreciation certificates for successfully completing Level 1: “Introduction to Basic Film Professions and Film Production”. Those who joined the project for a second consecutive year were recognized for completing Level 2 in the basics of documentary filmmaking. The mentors were greatly appreciated and honoured with certificates for their contribution to the Let’s Make a Movie project.

In 2024, two schools from Etropole Municipality and five schools from Srednogorie region took part in the project. These were Hristo Yasenov Secondary School and Todor Peev Vocational High School in the town of Etropole, and Zlatitsa Vocational High School, Lyuben Karavelov Secondary School – Koprivshtitsa, St. Paisii Hilendarski Secondary School – Zlatitsa, the Vocational High School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering – Pirdop, and Savo Savov Secondary School – Pirdop.

The Let’s Make a Movie initiative, launched by Geotechmin, Ellatzite-Med and Harlequin Association, was successfully completed for the second consecutive year, bringing together schools from Etropole Municipality and Srednogorie region. The project has proven to be a meaningful initiative that not only nurtures children’s creative skills, but also highlights the importance of mining and the key professions in the mining industry.
